LED lights on the Transalp

Posted by on May 4, 2011

Even if the Transalp have decent light it’s far from enough if having to ride in the dark.
So we added some Vision X XIL-S1100 Solstice lights to it.
Just a clamp on the crash bar:

And in place

The clamp was a little too big, and a smaller size would not reach so a strip of rubber cut from an old tire tube that went under the clamp solved that:

But a strip of rubber from a broken hose solved that

To wire them up we added Deutch connectors since the LED lights come with those already installed, cutting off some excess solder. The lights included a connector with a short cable already connected but since we had loose connectors we could add them to a cable the length we needed:

Then its just to push the pins into the connector housing:

Deutch connectors since LED lights have those

For the other end we did a middle piece with a male H4 in one end to connect to the stock wiring this way we dont need to cut into the stock wiring. From this we tapped in and took power to the LED lights. Since they are only 10W each it should be fine to just steal power from the high beam and not route an extra cable from the battery and a relay:

Adding H4 extension

Added some vulzanizing tape over the H4 connector just to be sure we dont short out anything:

Voila they work:
